Chris' 1993

Serial Number: G228505
Date of Purchase: September 2011
Purchased from: Craigslist / Traverse City, Michigan
Frame Size: 52
Complete Bike or Frame Set: Frame, fork, headset and wheels
Owner Name: Chris Barber
City: San Diego

Description:
Bike is in pretty nice shape. It has a few scratches (covered with close matching paint by previous owner) and a couple tears in the decals. I've found mostly original parts on Ebay, NOS 105 derailleurs, Dia Compe 986 brakes and decent set of Sugino GP cranks. I bought the NItto bars at my LBS. Pedals and seat were taken off an MB3 of similar vintage. I'm still looking for an original seatpost and stem. Originally sold by Turin Bicycle in Evanston IL.

Kelly's 1992

Serial Number: X123567
Date of Purchase: Spring '93 (holdover from '92)
Purchased from: The Bicycle Shop, Georgetown WDC
Frame Size: 52cm
Complete Bike or Frame Set: All original but the hubs and some of the cable casings. Replaced the hubs just this year. Flipped the Mustache bars maybe three years ago for comfort. Plus, a relatively new saddle. And the tires are obviously new.
Owner Name: Kelly
City: NYC

Description: I was a courier back in the day before fax machines and Internet. A two wheeled cowboy delivering most anything in Washington D.C. for several years until an untimely accident ended the job and turned the page on my youth. My XO-1 was a gift to myself for recovering from the accident; broken shoulder with displaced vertebra leading to a broken heart. My bike is simply named The Machine because it is the toughest, most enduring bike I've ever owned. I've ridden The Machine most everywhere in the country over the past almost 20 years. It is a strong and enduring bike with a heart of gold and a soul filled with kindness and compassion. I can easily say, I love my bike.
